Our Story
Like every good millennial love story, ours began on a dating app — though we like to think we beat the odds, because we matched on two. That felt like enough of a sign, so we met in person, and our first date at Techo, a mezcal bar in Austin, became the best first date either of us had ever had. We shut the place down and still weren't ready to call it a night, so we found another bar and kept the conversation going. We had no idea then that we'd one day get married in Mexico City — but in hindsight, it feels kind of poetic.
After a brief pause while Reed finished law school, Reed moved back to Austin and we made it official. A couple of years, one puppy named Captain, and a little house in East Austin later, we decided to try working remotely from Mexico City for a month — Captain very much included. It was our first international trip together, and we fell for the city instantly: the plants, the food, the architecture, the people, and the easy rhythm of it all. Because it's so walkable and dog-friendly, Captain fell just as hard as we did.
When it was time for a new chapter, we moved to New York. Then, on a family trip to Italy with the Hashes, Michael found his moment — a boat in the middle of Lake Como, about as picturesque as it gets — and proposed. We always knew we wanted a destination wedding, and we couldn't imagine anywhere more fitting than the city where we spent one of the best months of our lives. We can't wait to share our love for this incredible place — and this next chapter — with all of you.
